Journey Through the Clouds

Relax onboard the Rocky Mountaineer for two days of all-daylight rail travel through Canada's West and the Canadian Rockies, from the beautiful city of Vancouver to the frontier town of Jasper, Alberta in the majestic Jasper National Park. Enjoy spectacular views from picture windows of the RedLeaf Service coach, or the full-length dome windows of the GoldLeaf Service Dome coach. The Journey Through the Clouds route departs three times per week (eastbound and westbound) during its season from the end of April until the beginning of October.

Journey Through the Clouds - Itinerary

Westbound Jasper to Vancouver

Day 1 - Jasper to Kamloops
On your westward journey from Jasper to Kamloops, you'll experience the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and pass through the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo mountains. Highlights include Mount Robson, Pyramid Falls, Yellowhead Pass and the journey along the North Thompson River. Rest overnight at the Thompson Hotel in Kamloops.

Day 2 - Kamloops to Vancouver
Your southwest ride from Kamloops to Vancouver will take you past the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon.

Eastbound Vancouver to Jasper

Day 1 - Vancouver to Kamloops Heading northeast from Vancouver to Kamloops, you'll be impressed by the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon, and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Stay overnight in Kamloops at the Thompson Hotel.

Day 2 - Kamloops to Jasper Your rail adventure continues northeast to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Highlights include Mount Robson (the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies), Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park.
