Bring on the Spring Fun at Whistler World Ski Snowboard Festival

If you are Planning to ski  Whistler this April, then you should maybe do it around the biggest annual spring celebration, the World Ski Snowboard Festival (WSSF)  April 8-17th , 2016.

A full of slate of events maintains the fun on and off the mountain. Thousands of skiers and snowboarders are welcomed every year to Whistler Blackcomb. The WSSF attracts top international competitors, being considered the biggest annual gathering of winter sports, music, arts, and culture in North America.

With a mantra “Party in April. Sleep in May,” you know that this event will consist of a fun-filled and packed 10 days and nights of sports, art and music. Held in 2016 from April 8 to 17, you’ll find a lot to love in Whistler. A myriad of activities during the festival include winter sports competitions, free concerts, photography and film showcases, and even a dog parade. Some events do require tickets. But the World & Ski Snowboard Festival also offers plenty of free entertainment, including the concert series, Bud Light Freeride, Club Series, art exhibits, and Big Air Contests.

A festival with the words “world”, “ski”, and “snowboard” in it has to be a good one.  Major professional ski and snowboarding competitions (the latter known as the “Shred Show”) are at the core of the event. The Association of Professionals (AFP) World Tour Finals are a series of high adrenaline, technical, and intense competitions featuring halfpipe, slopestyle and big air challenges.

Competition on the final day (Sunday, April 17) includes the Halfpipe competition and crowd favorite, the rider judged Superhit contest.  The Snowboard Big Air is the festival’s finale. A full roster of top-tier events are open to spectators can expect a roster full of top-tier skiers gunning for a series win. (confirm times and locations when arriving in Whistler.

After watching the professionals compete, step up your game by making your way to the Demo Park for free testing of skis and boards, with the latest from many of the top winter sports brands.

Yes, you read that right: free outdoor concert series. Located in Skier’s Plaza, keep the fun going on the Main Stage in front of the Excalibur and Whistler Village Gondolas from 2:30-5:30 pm every day.The featured acts nourish a variety of music genres.  Artists include Tribe Called Red, BADBADNOTGOOD, Dirty Radio, SkiiTour, and many more!

Channel your inner Spielberg at the Whistler World Ski Snowboard Festival for your chance to win big!

On April 13th, aspiring filmmakers and photographers channel their creativity to shoot and edit an original short film during Whistler’s Olympus 72 Hour Filmaker Showdown. Teams have 72 hours to capture the spirit of the mountain within 100 kilometer radius of Whistler. The Best of the Show Event incentive is $10,000.
