Whistler is legendary for its dining scene, among other things you may have already heard of, like the skiing and resort life in general. But the food is outstanding, and remarkably diverse for such a cute little village tucked way up in the mountains. There are some excellent places to eat for breakfast, dinner and drinks, and of course – lunch. What follows are three of our favourite spots for Whistler lunches in the Village, always an excellent decision when it’s time for a special mid-day meal in a special place.

Sachi Sushi (4359 Main St. #106)

If you’re in the mood for sushi, this is probably the best in town. It’s a bright and breezy eatery that knows how to do the art of sushi properly. Opened in 2003, the head chef and owner, Toshiyuki Kobayashi has been making sushi for over 30 years. Grab a seat at the bar and watch the legend himself create his gorgeous masterpieces for you. It’s an unforgettable experience with some of the finest taste sensations on the West Coast. The ingredients are always fresh and the atmosphere is always upbeat. Try their specialities: Kani Blossoms, Roundhouse Rolls, and Cupcakes. Have an ice cold Kokanee beer on a summer day or a hot sake on a cold afternoon.

Elements Tapas Bar (4359 Main St. just off the main stroll on Summit Lodge)

Elements knows how to all meals properly, but especially lunch. It’s a genuine local’s favourite for casual upscale dining and is consistently voted the Best Tapas in town. The ingredients are locally sourced, with Ocean Wise seafood, Pemberton meats, and Vancouver Island cheeses. Try the Albacore Tuna Sashimi Lettuce Cups (seared tuna with well-seasoned vermicelli noodles, carrots, bean sprouts, toasted nuts, and topped with a sweet sauce). The Cream of Asparagus Soup is smooth and topped with shredded cheese. Eggs Benedict with Dungeness Crabmeat and Citrus Hollandaise has Duck Sausage as a side dish. The Stuffed French Toast With Brie is a delicious specialty. Top your meal off with a delectable Mini Chocolate Latte or world-famous Smoothie.

The BrewHouse (4355 Blackcomb Way)

Sometimes the best Whistler lunches are enjoyed in a busy noisy sports bar. Well if you’re looking for that atmosphere then BrewHouse is the place for you. Year-round it’s bumping, featuring a restaurant bar, massive patio and mezzanine. It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends and watch the game on big screen TVs by the double-sided fireplace. And the food is great. You’ll enjoy a wonderful mixture of barbecue and rotisserie dishes of your favourite meats and fishes along with superb pizzas and pastas. Wash it all down with one of the premium handcrafted ales and lagers that are brewed right onsite. Tours of the brewery are available as well. And if you’ve got a family don’t worry, there’s an excellent kid’s menu, helping make BrewHouse fun for the whole fam-damily.
